WBZ-TV & Radio station tour guide introduction
“
Welcome to the WBZ Tour! You have just begun the adventure of a lifetime, as you have agreed to become (insert thunderous applause) a WBZ Tour Guide! Your average person on the street would not have been handed this document, and it is with this knowledge that you are expected to embark on your adventure. From the moment you greet your group in the lobby, to the moment you see them off, you represent WBZ. The impression that you give the group is the impression they will have of the station. More than that, and as strange as it sounds, you will become WBZ to them. You’re right, it’s a big responsibility! But you can handle it! And just to facilitate a good start, this guide was drawn up for you!
This guide serves mainly to structure the tour… it is a skeleton which you must bring to life! Although it should be adhered to in order to insure an informative tour, you are encouraged to stray a bit and add a little to create a more comprehensive tour for you particular group. Keep in mind that the personality of your group (including age, native language, size, and interest level) largely dictates what you will say and how you will say it.
Always be very clear, concise and confident in your introductions and explanations. If you don’t know the answer to a question, ask! In general, soliciting the knowledge of a willing employee is highly recommended. However, and above all, extreme care should be taken not to disturb in any way the normal functions of the station. Always check the tour path and the studio schedule prior to greeting your group in the lobby.
Thank you for accepting this challenge! Read on!
